Esther reunited with natural mother in Bolivia

At the age of four, Esther V. was adopted from Bolivia . She does not remember anything concerning her past. Her greatest wish is to find back her mother and her biological family.

From a child, Esther has been very occupied with her adoption. Though her adoptive parents have been very good to her, the fact of being adopted has played a trick on her a lot, she always felt like a stranger. Esther thinks she feels this way because of the fact that the story of her adoption was never solved.

It is very important to Esther that she will get answers to vital questions: Did my mother love me? Why did she leave me? Did she ever grieve?

Meanwhile Esther has become a mother herself and she wants to give her child the opportunity to get to know its biological family. 

She does not have a lot of information to start the search though. The only useful document is her birth certificate with the name of her mother, Myriam Ramirez Salas, and the place of birth, Santa Cruz- Bolivia… 

And there is another mystery: Although Esther was born in Santa Cruz , she was adopted in Potosi , a city more than 1000 kilometers away…

Why this ever happened, is a mystery to Esther.

Myriam Ramirez-Salas was found in the highest city in the world: Potosi-Bolivia. She was emotional, but very happy and willing to tell her side of the story.

I was sixteen years of age and working in Santa Cruz when I got unwanted pregnant. My family was not too happy with all this.

When Esther was 4 years old, I could get a job teaching. However, I had to walk seven hours to the school. It was impossible to take Esther with me every time and that is why I brought her to my mother. When I arrived back home, a couple of weeks later, Esther had gone…After quite a quarrel with my mother, I ran to the orphanage to get my daughter back.

But it was too late, they told me that my little daughter was taken abroad.
My mother put her grand-child up for adoption, and Esther had disappeared for good. My world collapsed, I never stopped thinking of her.
I married a second time and my husband and four children we got together always knew Esther’s sad story.

Meanwhile Myriam is 41 and still teaching at a little school, together with her husband who is the principle. Three times a week, a truck makes the journey to this village ‘Mijma’, at 4000 metres altitude in the centre of the Andes .

Myriam and her family can not wait to meet Esther.

Esther: “At last the circle is full! Finally I will get to know my family. Answers will come to all my questions. I never expected to find out the truth at last! Thank you so much! You can not image what this means to me!
Next year, I am going to Potosi myself to meet my mother. So it is about time to take those Spanish lessons at last!”
